Monday hits, podcasts, etc.

By now you’ve probably seen my annual breakdown of the All-Star rosters. If you’re here, you probably already know that I think the All-Star Game is just a marketing event and I haven’t watched it in 2003, so the outrage in the article is just for fun. The Futures Game is where the action is, at least to me. Anyway, the Conversation below that article has been insane.

I’ll be on ESPNEWS this afternoon, probably around 3:30 pm, but we’re taping just before the show starts so that time may change. I’ll also be on our St. Louis affiliate at 11:20ish CDT today, and on the Brian Kenny Show at some point this evening (also taping before it starts, so I can watch Team USA tonight).

You can download my Friday hit on the V Show in two parts here and here. My Friday night hit with Seth Everett on our NYC affiliate is here.

  1. My problem with the Franklin selection isn’t that he hasn’t been good this year. It’s that there’s no way you could argue he’s been better than Gallardo or Vazquez.

  2. Look, closers are way overrated when they are based on counting stats. In fact, I’d have to say that saves is right up there with wins & losses for a starting pitcher among the list of most meaningless stats. Who cares if Frnalin or Hoffman or any other closer is or is not on the team?

We all know that Klaw hates the Cardinals. Just like he hates the Nats, the Twins, the White Sox and (insert team name here). Soemtimes fans are so blindly loyal to their team that they fail to see the obvious.

  3. I hear Keith also hates puppies.

  4. Trust me, the Cardinal fans are still incredibly irritated at Law’s comments before and after the World Series. I’ll admit, I was irritated, but I also understood what he was talking about. The fans in STL just hate the fact that an ESPN guy rips the Cardinals. I can’t begin to explain how much it gets to them.

What’s really funny, this all transpired on Bernie’s Pressbox. If you checked those forums, everyday you would see Card fans RIPPING everyone from DeWitt to Ankiel to the Beer man. Then when an OUTSIDER, especially one from the EAST COAST BIAS MEDIA, rips anything Cardinals, they blow a gasket. It’s laughable at best.

  5. That’s because puppies are so overvalued.

  6. Im just impressed an entire fan base can get this worked up over Ryan Franklin…I mean David Aardsma has been just as good as Franklin and you don’t see Mariners fans freaking out…

  7. Based on my experience, Cardinals fans have the largest inferiority complex wrt team recognition of any in baseball.
