Deaths come in threes. So whoever invented the mother’s basement better watch his step.
I actually met Gygax 2-3 years ago in a legal situation involving his mountainous debt. Very likable, gentle guy. Bemoaned the rise of computer-based gaming, which you’d expect.
i didnt know his wife’s name was gail. thats a lot of alliteration. AD&D is a great game. im going to go play some living greyhawk in his honor.
@Ronaldo: +1. Hell, +1,000,000.
Man. I feel like I lost a relative.
Rest in peace, Gary. Thanks for the memories.
Must’ve lost his saving throw . . .
OK, that was bad taste. I played a lot of AD&D in my youth, so this news saddens me.

Otherwise you’ll just get the current comic, which isn’t usually Gygax related.
You know, all this D&D retrospective stuff makes me think we haven’t gone far enough with baseball statistics. Until we can model a ballplayer and infallibly simulate all his on-field actions with a Euclidian regular solid inscribed with numbers, our mission can never be complete.
Just think of the fun! “Potion of Andro = +2 Str!” “Sosa’s Complex Corkage = +1 to Swing, -6 Charisma on Critical Miss” “Invocation of The Contract Year = +2 to All Stats” “Chipper’s Magic Greenies +3 to Haste”.
And so on…
