Stick to baseball, 1/16/22.

Still working on the prospect rankings – I started the actual writing this week, after several weeks of prep – which will run starting January 31st at the Athletic. I appreciate your patience. My podcast and my Paste reviews will return this week.

And now, the links…

  1. The elderly mother of a friend of mine was admitted to the hospital last week because of breathing problems (the mother is vaxxed and boosted and tested negative). The mother had to wait over 24 hours in the hallway of the ER to wait for an open bed. Most of those beds were occupied by the unvaxxed who were sick from Omicron, and this is in a county that is about 75% vaxxed. It is interesting they will refuse one part of modern science but depend on another part when they get sick. But because so many of them are getting sick at once, their selfishness impacts everyone.

  2. That article about the Alabama Whole Foods non-mask wearer seems to be a clear example of Yellow Journalism.

    • Looking at the picture at the top of that article, he clearly doesn’t believe in seat belts either.

  3. Oh, I definitely want to go to Guadeloupe. I remember being fed pork in a coconut-colombo sauce when I was in my early 20s on a trip to France, and when I asked for the recipe, it was written out for me by hand. It’s on my refrigerator now. These were French folks who served it to me, so I didn’t know the origin was Guadeloupe, just learned that at the top of the article.
