Stick to baseball, 5/5/19.

I had two ESPN+ posts last week, my ranking of the top 50 prospects in this year’s draft class and a scouting blog post covering a half-dozen top prep players (five of them on the top 50). My first mock draft of 2019 goes up on Monday. I held a Klawchat on Thursday.

I sent out the latest edition of my free email newsletter on Friday as well. I’ve been trying to time those to when I’ve got actual content to tell you all about, especially baseball things.

And now, the links…

  1. That’s really cool news from Asmodee. Keith, did you ever read the Settlers of Catan book that was published a few years ago? It was intended to provide a backstory of sorts for the game. I enjoyed the way it drew on the game’s setting and mechanics and interweaved them into the storyline. It was a fun read but prototyping IIRC. I wonder if they will work off of it or do a whole new story?

  2. While most gerrymanders are the work of Republicans, Maryland is another state with a Democratic gerrymander.

  3. The Foxconn plant outside Racine, Wisconsin that Scott Walker and Trump pushed with much fanfare isn’t looking so hot anymore. Familiies forced out of their homes, farms sold and then leased back to the original owners, and now people are wondering how much of the original plan will ever come to fruition. There was a good recent NPR article on this subject as well, but I think the Journal’s article is more in depth.

  4. My daughter is just finishing her first year at Sarah Lawrence and this story is the talk of campus. I haven’t seen good reasons for the college to not react, either. The times we’ve been there (we’re from the middle of Maine, so this is big city life for us) there seems to be plenty of campus security visible, so I am not sure what the story from administration is for not acting.

  5. Katie McHugh was an accomplished practitioner of what Jeet Heer referred to as the “Troll Three-Step” when he wrote about Kevin Williamson.
