Aaron – I taught myself a fair amount in college, then took a semester in grad school to freshen up. I’m not fluent, but I’m past tourist-level – I’ve called it “conversant” on my resume.
Keith, This is off topic, but I was hoping to get a hotel review from you. We are planning to take kids (3 and 5) to Disney in October and are thinking of staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I know you liked the food, but can you recommend the lodge itself? I know being a Disney employee this may be tough. And thanks for the Strip-T’s recommendation. It’s excellent.
Definitely – it’s really nice, somewhat upscale. Our room was not huge but the decor was very cool. Only real complaint is that it’s kind of dark everywhere in the hotel, and I guess that it’s far from the Magic Kingdom, but we had a car and it wasn’t that big of a deal. It was nice to have Boma for a big breakfast or the Mara for a quick-service meal when we were in a rush.
Keith, extremely off-topic, but is celebrating Earth Day while not doing anything practical to help the environment pretty much the same thing as the MLB’s putting on Jackie Robinson Day without doing much in the way of progressing the hiring of qualified minority candidates in MLB front offices? Or do I need some rest?
Aaron – yes, it’s the same idea. I’d even argue that earth day is a net negative for the environment with all the energy expended and trash created in its honor.
Keith, baseball question for you. Do you think Frank Thomas’ voluntary assistance with the Mitchell Report has/had anything to do with his outright release and the spin that mlb/media is putting on his attitude and persona?
Keith, what are your thoughts on Jocketty taking over GM of the Reds? I know he treated the Cards well, but I keep thinking of the Mulder trade. I know it’s just one trade, but should I be worried about our much improved farm system? Thanks.
Keith: You really think the Reds should trade Dunn? I think if they could sign him to a reasonable deal, they should. He’s still only 28 years old. I know he’s brutal in the field, but if we could put Bruce in RF, then trade Griffey, we’d have some cash this offseason to get a better CF to make up for Dunn’s shortcomings.
Keith: TV and Radio, TV and Radio … have you ever listened to TV on the Radio? Great band. With each song they seem to create a different sonic atomosphere, then build drum beats, melodies and great lyrics on top. One of the best live shows around right now, too.
Unrelated trivia question: Whose left arm did Cliff Lee steal this offseason? I though CC before Tuesday. Now I’m inclined to think Eric Bedard.
Keith, did you grow up speaking Italian or was that something you learned later? Or do you not speak it at all?
Also, where does Frank Thomas end up? Seattle?

Jason: No, I don’t.
Brad: I’m waiting on the baseball editor to let me know if I’m writing about this for ESPN.com.
