Thanks Batman, er…Keith.
Keith, three questions.
1. Should I be worried that the Giants starters are starting to pitch 5-6 innings with around 85-90 pitches thrown per outing? Is this about right for being this close to the regular season, or is this Boch being overzealous with his starters like last season?
2. What things happen on a day-to-day basis that makes the GM position in baseball a lot harder than some people think? Is it just orchestrating and checking everything or are there other aspects of which the public is extremely ignorant?
3. If Peter Magowan, Larry Baer, and the rest of the Giants’ managing/owning/board-of-whatever crew offered you the GM position at the end of this season, would you take it? I’m in a baseball sahara right now… I’m not saying you’d fix everything, but for crying out loud, I just don’t understand where this organization is going, really.
“I’m not a fan of Eckstein, but he’s above replacement level, and scrappy white guys get more chances than comparable black or Latino players because MLB front offices are so white.”
You have no idea how happy I am that you stated the truth so clearly and plainly here. I’ve tried to make similar points, but always get attacked.
Thanks for the sausage and mushroom pasta recipe too, by the way! I’m one of those college-aged men and am a poor cook, but this looks like the perfect thing for me to surprise my girlfriend with on her upcoming birthday.
Keith — do you think, in terms of bullpen management, that Girardi or Torre would be more dangerous for the Yankees’ young arms? Both have questionable track records in that regard.
