Just a quick question. I’m sure you have probably answered this question before, but, when do you see Michael Bowden and Justin Masterson joining the Red Sox rotation, and how effective do you think they will be? Also, would you give up Coco Crisp and one of those two pitchers for Joe Blanton, and do you think that Billy Beane would do that deal. thanks

If a Type B free agent (Shannon Stewart) who was offered arbitration signs a minor league deal with a new team (Toronto), does his former team (Oakland) still receive a pick in the supplemental round?
Ernie: I don’t see Masterson as a starter, but I think he’ll be up this year as a reliever. Bowden’s at least a year off, probably two. He was one of the final cuts for my top 100. I don’t see why Beane would do that deal for Blanton – Crisp doesn’t really fit what he’s looking for, which is guys with 5+ years of control.
Todd: No, they do not, unless said player makes the signing team’s Opening Day roster anyway.
