Wade<\/em> \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/24\/opinion\/dobbs-ruling-roe-v-wade.html\">an insult to women and the judicial system<\/a>.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&#8220;The American Medical Association is deeply disturbed by the U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s decision to overturn nearly a half-century of precedent protecting patients\u2019 right to critical reproductive health care.&#8221; Read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ama-assn.org\/about\/leadership\/dobbs-ruling-assault-women-s-health-safe-medical-practice\">the AMA\u2019s full statement here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Also condemning the SCOTUS ruling: The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/news\/press\/releases\/2022\/06\/scotus-abortion-decision\">American Psychological Association<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WHO\/status\/1540362083065368577?s=20&amp;t=o7mUxzkFCtas9a9SgjAbMQ\">World Health Organization<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Longreads: Billionaire Jeff Yass, the founder of quantitative trading company Susquehanna International Group, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/jeff-yass-susquehanna-tiktok-tax-avoidance\">avoiding paying taxes on his hundreds of millions of dollars in income<\/a>, and is using his savings to fund right-wing political candidates and movements, according to ProPublica.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A new Indian film inadvertently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/culture\/q-and-a\/what-a-disturbing-new-film-reveals-about-modis-india\">highlights the growing racial\/religious tensions in the country<\/a>, which is ruled by a Hindu nationalist Prime Minister. <em>The Kashmir Files<\/em> is an unsubtly pro-Hindu and anti-Muslim, and its director parrots dubious claims about terrorism by the minority Muslim population in this interview with Isaac Chotiner of the <em>New Yorker<\/em>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The <em>Texas Tribune<\/em> continues to provide some of the best reporting on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/06\/20\/uvalde-police-shooting-response-records\/\">the failed police response to the mass shooting in Uvalde<\/a>, including the officers\u2019 failure to even open the doors to the classroom where the killer was.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Amy Kaufman, the ex-wife of convicted abuser Jonah Keri, spoke to the <em>LA Times<\/em>\u2019 Bill Shaikin about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/story\/2022-06-20\/domestic-violence-amy-kaufman-jonah-keri\">her ordeal with Keri<\/a>, including his pattern of manipulative &amp; controlling behavior as well as graphic descriptions of domestic abuse.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A Black high school student in Illinois was ticketed for a theft she says she didn\u2019t commit. She\u2019s still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/school-police-tickets-illinois-naperville\">fighting to get the ticket overturned<\/a> several years later.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Writing for Andscape (formerly The Undefeated), Clinton Yates writes about the side of Omaha you don\u2019t see during the College World series \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/andscape.com\/features\/a-side-of-omaha-you-wont-see-during-the-college-world-series\/\">the city\u2019s Black neighborhoods<\/a>, overlooked in a city that is 75% white.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Anti-Defamation League issued its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adl.org\/resources\/report\/online-hate-and-harassment-american-experience-2022\">report on hate and harassment online<\/a>, finding a huge increase in targeting of LGBTQ+ and Asian-American people.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>SCOTUS revoked the reproductive rights that had been secured for 50 years by <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>; in his assenting opinion, Clarence Thomas argued that the court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/6\/24\/23169382\/roe-wade-overturned-supreme-court-abortion-rights-reproductive-health\">should also overturn its rulings on gay marriage, contraception, and \u201csodomy\u201d laws<\/a>. Meanwhile, if you want to know what a strict abortion ban does to women\u2019s health, read this story of a U.S. citizen in Malta (where abortion is almost compleptely banned) whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-61898437\">nonviable pregnancy is now threatening her life<\/a>. And STAT News reports on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2022\/06\/24\/supreme-court-decision-suggests-the-legal-right-to-contraception-is-also-under-threat\/\">threat to the right to contraception<\/a> included in the ruling.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The FX\/Hulu series <em>Under the Banner of Heaven<\/em> seems likely to win a few Emmys in the next awards cycle, especially for Andrew Garfield as the series\u2019 star, but the sister of Brenda Lafferty, whose murder forms the basis of the series and the Jon Krakauer book from which it\u2019s adapted, says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deseret.com\/utah\/2022\/5\/11\/23064288\/under-banner-of-heaven-brenda-ron-dan-lafferty-murder-lds-church-real-fiction-sharon-weeks-sister\">the seven-part show does not represent her sister fairly<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The owners of Prince Street Pizza in New York City have stepped down as managers \u2013 but not as owners \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/food\/prince-street-pizza-owners-step-down-after-racist-comments-resurface-t205413\">after their own racist comments to customers<\/a> resurfaced online this week. Billy Graham, told a woman who was the victim of spousal abuse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/religion\/2022\/06\/20\/franklin-graham-domestic-abuse-abedini\/\">to return to her abusive husband<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Texas AG Ken Paxton said of the massacre in Uvalde that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2022\/06\/19\/texas-ag-paxtons-shameful-uvalde-cop-out-god-always-has-plan\/\">God always has a plan<\/a>.\u201d Ignoring, for a moment, the question of God\u2019s existence, does anyone truly believe that a benevolent God\u2019s plan involved the parents of 19 children burying the partial remains of their kids?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Texas Republican Party\u2019s official platform refers to homosexuality as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sewellchan\/status\/1538252905244917764\">an abnormal lifestyle choice<\/a>,\u201d which contradicts several decades of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-021-02312-0\">science on same-sex attraction<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The anti-vaccine grift has moved on to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/pkgybz\/anti-vaxxers-pivot-to-treating-long-covid\">bogus treatments for long COVID<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A Saskatchewan judge who ruled in favor of a doctor accused of assaulting five women patients because he found them too emotional during their testimony now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/saskatchewan\/complaints-filed-sask-judge-sexual-assault-regina-1.6496020\">faces several complaints about his conduct<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sen.
