I wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/klaw.me\/3gnlUw4\">a draft scouting notebook<\/a> that focused on Louisville catcher Henry Davis, who might be the best prospect in this class. I also collaborated with Britt Ghiroli to <a href=\"https:\/\/klaw.me\/2Qq15p6\">look at the MLB Draft League<\/a>, which sent out its initial rosters this week and earned negative reviews from scouts and executives. I also held a <a href=\"https:\/\/klaw.me\/3enktLs\">Klawchat<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over at <em>Paste<\/em>, I <a href=\"https:\/\/klaw.me\/2S01P4M\">reviewed the Princess Bride Adventure Book Game<\/a>, a slight but fun co-operative game you can play with your kids or just because you love the movie, to which the game is very faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Keith Law Show this week, my guest was <a href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/podcast\/168-the-keith-law-show\/?episode=56\">our White Sox writer James Fegan<\/a>, talking about Carlos Rod\u00f3n, the Yerminator, and more. If none of those works, you can find it <a href=\"https:\/\/bookshop.org\/a\/2960\/9780062942739\">on Bookshop.org<\/a> and at <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3a0pCYr\">Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more of me, you can subscribe to <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyletter.com\/keithlaw\">my free email newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now, the links\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Longreads: Vietnam has beaten COVID-19, with just 35 deaths in a country of over 96 million people. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/22346085\/covid-19-vietnam-response-travel-restrictions\">They did it with strict travel restrictions<\/a> even as health experts said those were the wrong policy response.<\/li><li>There&#8217;s a movie coming out about Tim Ballard, former CEO of the anti-trafficking group Operation Underground Railroad, but he and his group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/k7a3qw\/a-famed-anti-sex-trafficking-group-has-a-problem-with-the-truth\">have a history of exaggerating their feats<\/a> as well as their (limited) links with law enforcement.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/new-jersey-law-says-criminal-cops-should-go-to-jail-records-reveal-they-often-dont\">Cops who break the law in New Jersey often avoid prison<\/a>, even when the crimes they commit should result in time.<\/li><li><em>Harvard<\/em> profiled Professor Sandra Susan Smith and her work on the relationship <a href=\"https:\/\/harvardmagazine.com\/2021\/05\/features-jobs-and-jail\">between urban poverty and the prison-industrial complex<\/a>.<\/li><li>NPR tells the story of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/04\/16\/985439655\/a-worst-nightmare-cyberattack-the-untold-story-of-the-solarwinds-hack\" target=\"_blank\">the SolarWinds hack<\/a>, one of the most extensive corporate hacks in history, which went undiscovered for nearly a year even as the company&#8217;s compromised software went out to customers.<\/li><li>With vaccination cards come <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/2021\/04\/18\/scams-coronavirus-vaccination-cards\/\">frauds selling (and buying) fake vaccination cards<\/a>, a crime made easier by sites like eBay refusing to crack down on their sale.<\/li><li>That &#8220;Stanford&#8221; study saying masks don&#8217;t work? Yeah, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/fact-checking-629043235973\">it&#8217;s not a real study<\/a>, and the author has nothing to do with Stanford. Anti-mask loons lapped it up, though.<\/li><li>An editorial in <em>Nature<\/em> argues that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41591-021-01260-6?fbclid=IwAR1FHmcPQ7AyGM-CS6XGQaDNkk7FttGBqdv7cwN_CcpgydcrCX8CP6kmGiM\">social media sites should remove accounts<\/a> that spread anti-vaccine misinformation or face stricter regulation.<\/li><li>A threatened advertiser boycott over Tucker Carlson&#8217;s embrace of white supremacist rhetoric <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/opinion\/articles\/2021-04-21\/fox-news-and-the-murdochs-will-keep-tucker-carlson-despite-ad-boycott-over-race?sref=x6vPh6y5\">hasn&#8217;t cooled Fox&#8217;s commitment to him<\/a>.<\/li><li>Republicans who don&#8217;t believe in the First Amendment are introducing and passing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/04\/21\/us\/politics\/republican-anti-protest-laws.html\">bills that limit protestors&#8217; rights<\/a> and remove sanctions for people who hit protestors with their cars. We had a right to peaceable assembly, once.<\/li><li>Minor Figures, a London-based producer of coffee-related products, plastered ads for its new oat milk product <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/news\/philadelphia\/oat-milk-philadelphia-street-art-20210414.html\">all over existing street art in Philadelphia<\/a>, spurring a backlash from artists and people in those communities.<\/li><li>Shock G, the main MC of Digital Underground who also played the character of Humpty Hump, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/music\/shock-g-dead\">died this week at age 57<\/a>. He might be best known for &#8220;The Humpty Dance,&#8221; but Digital Underground was responsible for many better songs, including their first single, &#8220;Doowutchyalike,&#8221; and the track &#8220;Same Song,&#8221; which introduced the world to a 19-year-old rapper named 2Pac.<\/li><li>Jonathan Capeheart wrote in the wake of the Derek Chauvin verdict that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2021\/04\/17\/being-black-america-is-exhausting\/\">being Black in America is exhausting<\/a>.<\/li><li>President Biden appears to be on the verge of calling the Turkish massacre of Armenians in 1915 a genocide.
