I also held my regular <a href=\"http:\/\/klaw.me\/1kvK4UN\" target=\"_blank\">Klawchat<\/a> on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m taking vacation this upcoming week, so I&#8217;ll be off social media for a bit and won&#8217;t have any Insider posts after the second AFL dispatch goes up. I may still chat Thursday, however, now that those are mine and a bit more loose and fun.<\/p>\n<p>And now, the links&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <i>Guardian<\/i> helpfully points out that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/news\/datablog\/2014\/oct\/29\/todays-key-fact-you-are-probably-wrong-about-almost-everything\" target=\"_blank\">you are probably wrong about almost everything<\/a>. Granted, they&#8217;re talking about public ignorance of issues around immigration and religion, but still, the headline holds true for you (and, yes, for me too).<\/li>\n<li>From <i>Wired<\/i>, Julianne Ross writes that the growing myth that online life isn&#8217;t &#8220;real&#8221; or authentic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2015\/10\/the-idea-that-online-life-isnt-real-is-trite-and-harmful\/\" target=\"_blank\">is both false and harmful<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>On World Polio Day, the General Secretary of Rotary International talks about how <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/4083262\/world-polio-day\/?xid=tcoshare\" target=\"_blank\">engagement and education can fight vaccine denial<\/a>. Polio is still endemic in only two countries, along the shared border of Pakistan and Afghanistan.<\/li>\n<li>If you live in Oklahoma, well, I&#8217;m sorry, but you can do something useful: Call your legislators and, if they&#8217;re on the Senate&#8217;s Health and Human Services Committee, demand that they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tulsaworld.com\/news\/health\/push-to-remove-exemption-from-vaccination-law-expected\/article_c7c94ce7-0a5d-5773-98b2-5bd9dd31f386.html\" target=\"_blank\">pass the measure to eliminate non-medical exemptions for childhood vaccinations<\/a>. Don&#8217;t let the &#8220;vaccine choice&#8221; term in the article fool you: that&#8217;s pure, unadulterated science denial.<\/li>\n<li>Food allergies are real, so please <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/magazine\/2015\/10\/14\/why-food-allergy-fakers-need-stop\/PB6uN8NF3eLWFjXnKF5A9K\/story.html?s_campaign=bostonglobe%3Asocialflow%3Atwitter\" target=\"_blank\">don&#8217;t pretend you have them if you don&#8217;t<\/a>, at least when eating out.<\/li>\n<li>There&#8217;s a hamlet \u2013 that&#8217;s fancy New York speak for &#8220;podunk&#8221; \u2013 on eastern Long Island where homeowners can only sell their houses to purchasers of primarily German descent thanks to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/10\/20\/nyregion\/query-for-home-buyers-in-a-long-island-hamlet-are-you-german.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\">Nazi-era compact designed to keep the community German<\/a>, and, one would assume, not Jewish. The lawsuit currently in process seems like a slam-dunk discrimination case.<\/li>\n<li>There&#8217;s a Kickstarter live now for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/cheapassgames\/kill-doctor-lucky\" target=\"_blank\">a reissue and update to Kill Doctor Lucky<\/a>, a sort of anti-Clue boardgame from 1996. <\/li>\n<li>Russ Parsons of the <i>LA Times<\/i> writes about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/food\/dailydish\/la-dd-best-cookbook-20151016-story.html\" target=\"_blank\">best cookbook in the world<\/a>, which isn&#8217;t one book but varies depending on where you&#8217;re asking the question.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mentalfloss.com\/article\/70259\/mindfulness-might-create-false-memories-new-study-finds\" target=\"_blank\">Mindfulness may increase your susceptibility to false memories<\/a>, according to a single study published in <i>Psychology Science<\/i>.
