I also held my weekly <a href=\"http:\/\/klaw.me\/1LwHxnA\" target=\"_blank\">Klawchat<\/a> here on the dish, which, again, is where they live now.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll try to get a review of the new CHVRCHES album, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B011EDD1PC\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=B011EDD1PC&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=meadowpartyco-20&#038;linkId=UGB5YNVZPLQWW5HN\">Every Open Eye<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=meadowpartyco-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B011EDD1PC\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/><\/i>, up in a day or so, but in the meantime here&#8217;s a synopsis: If you liked their debut, it&#8217;s extremely similar and similarly excellent.<\/p>\n<p>And now, the links&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One last piece on the Ahmed Mohamed story \u2013 which reached ridiculous proportions with a &#8220;truther&#8221; movement emerging \u2013 from <i>Popular Mechanics<\/i> on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popularmechanics.com\/culture\/web\/a17367\/ahmed-mohamed-the-power-of-diy\/\" target=\"_blank\">why we need more tinkerers like him<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Journalist Stacy May Fowles with a potent piece on why online harassment of women led her to <a href=\"https:\/\/thewalrus.ca\/locked-tight\/\" target=\"_blank\">keep her Twitter account private<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>And here&#8217;s exhibit A: Journalist and former attorney Julie DiCaro, who&#8217;s been among the leaders in coverage of the Patrick Kane rape allegations, <a href=\"http:\/\/jezebel.com\/reporter-covering-patrick-kane-rape-allegations-receive-1732998929\" target=\"_blank\">has received threatening tweets<\/a> for doing her fucking job.<\/li>\n<li>This is very silly but kind of on point \u2013 the duo Fleece did a rather perfect <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/music\/news\/this-how-to-write-an-alt-j-song-video-is-hilarious-scarily-accurate-10307040.html\" target=\"_blank\">parody of an alt-J song<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The indispensable J. Kenji Lopez-Alt <a href=\"http:\/\/gardenandgun.com\/blog\/five-southern-cooking-myths-debunked\" target=\"_blank\">debunks five myths about Southern cooking<\/a>. His book, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0393081087\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0393081087&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=meadowpartyco-20&#038;linkId=SR2JCUROASIH5PYP\">The Food Lab<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=meadowpartyco-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=0393081087\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/><\/em>, is out now.<\/li>\n<li>Some good news for lovers of dead-tree editions, like me: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/09\/23\/business\/media\/the-plot-twist-e-book-sales-slip-and-print-is-far-from-dead.html\" target=\"_blank\">print books aren&#8217;t dead as e-books sales have slipped<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A health-care researcher in DC writers about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/why-i-had-an-abortion-after-20-weeks\/2015\/09\/20\/174495cc-5e2f-11e5-8e9e-dce8a2a2a679_story.html?postshare=7361442841709017\" target=\"_blank\">why she had an abortion at 21 weeks<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>The Martin Shkreli drug price-gouging story didn&#8217;t have a lot of smart takes, but I thought Vox&#8217;s brief op ed that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vox.com\/policy-and-politics\/2015\/9\/23\/9383899\/martin-shkreli-daraprim-price\" target=\"_blank\">the story brought some needed attention to drug pricing<\/a> was spot on.<\/li>\n<li>From the &#8220;ain&#8217;t that some shit&#8221; department: A woman in Oklahoma was sentenced to 30 years for failing to protect her kids from her abusive boyfriend, who only got two years for actually abusing them, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/alexcampbell\/parole-board-denies-battered-womans-clemency-plea#.pabbOvBZG\" target=\"_blank\">her parole request was denied<\/a>. The parole board&#8217;s chair admitted to not knowing &#8220;the facts of [her] case.&#8221; Good job, Oklahoma.<\/li>\n<li>Uber, but for helicopters?
