The bad news, as this <i>Atlantic<\/i> piece argues, is that vaccine denialism is now being <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/health\/archive\/2015\/09\/ben-carson-donald-trump-republican-presidential-debate-vaccine-autism-science-government\/405901\/\" target=\"_blank\">linked to fear of big government<\/a>, and that makes it even harder to argue with these dangerous nitwits.<\/li>\n<li>Hugh Acheson brought <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wort.lu\/en\/community\/hugh-acheson-celebrity-chef-provides-luxembourg-food-truckers-with-food-for-thought-55f827aa0c88b46a8ce6005c\" target=\"_blank\">his wisdom to food trucks in Luxembourg<\/a> this week, which I mostly included because I&#8217;ve been to Luxembourg and it is kind of adorable.<\/li>\n<li>The <i>New York Times<\/i> looks back at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/08\/25\/science\/mount-tambora-volcano-eruption-1815.html?WT.mc_id=2015-SEPTEMBER-FB-MC9-AUD_DEV-0901-0930&#038;WT.mc_ev=click&#038;ad-keywords=AUDDEVREMARK&#038;_r=0\" target=\"_blank\">the 1815 eruption of the Tambora volcano<\/a> in Indonesia, the most destructive volcanic eruption in modern history, a cataclysm that resulted in a massive global cooling episode. The spur for the piece was the release of a new book on the subject, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0691168628\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0691168628&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=meadowpartyco-20&#038;linkId=5J3AYJ3LGM2HXZB3\">Tambora: The Eruption That Changed the World<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=meadowpartyco-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=0691168628\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/><\/i>, this past Tuesday. The author is quoted in the article.<\/li>\n<li>That recent incident where a security guard at a Whole Foods beat a black customer unconscious is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfweekly.com\/sanfrancisco\/san-francisco-news-whole-foods-security-guards-oakland-black-lives-matter\/Content?oid=4064817\" target=\"_blank\">a symptom of a larger trend<\/a>, where lots of minimally-screened guards are running around, often with guns, rarely with consequences for their actions.<\/li>\n<li>Exxon&#8217;s own researchers showed their fossil fuels would lead to global warming <a href=\"http:\/\/insideclimatenews.org\/news\/15092015\/Exxons-own-research-confirmed-fossil-fuels-role-in-global-warming\" target=\"_blank\">back in 1977<\/a>, which they subsequently ignored as they championed climate-change denial in the 1990s.<\/li>\n<li>The hot mess that is Cobb County&#8217;s new stadium for the local racist-nicknamed baseball team is even worse than you thought because <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/the-atlanta-braves-new-stadium-may-make-fans-play-highway-frogger\" target=\"_blank\">fans won&#8217;t have a safe route from the parking lot to the stadium<\/a>.
