Forster&#8217;s works, but I&#8217;d take that over <i>A Passage to India<\/i> any day.<\/li>\n<li>BBC&#8217;s Assignment radio program looks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/p031j7ll\" target=\"_blank\">Paraguay&#8217;s preteen pregnancy problem<\/a>, exploring why schoolgirls there are so vulnerable to abuse.<\/li>\n<li>Digg interviewed the Food Lab&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/digg.com\/2015\/kenji-lopez-alt-interview\" target=\"_blank\">Kenji Lopez-Alt<\/a> ahead of the release of his first book, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0393081087\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0393081087&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=meadowpartyco-20&#038;linkId=4JHN7C2TBU7XDMBW\">The Food Lab: Better Home Cooking Through Science<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=meadowpartyco-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=0393081087\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/><\/i>, later this month.<\/li>\n<li>I haven&#8217;t tried this recipe but I was intrigued enough to share it: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tastingtable.com\/entry_detail\/chefs_recipes\/18350\/how_to_make_spatchcocked_sichuan_spiced_dry_brined_turkey.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Sichuan-spiced dry-brined turkey<\/a>. Dry brining doesn&#8217;t require a giant bucket as a wet brine does, and the recipe calls for spatchcocking (stop laughing) the bird for more even cooking of the white and dark meats.\n<\/li>\n<li><i>New York<\/i> has a rare positive story on climate change, arguing that <a href=\"http:\/\/nymag.com\/daily\/intelligencer\/2015\/09\/sunniest-climate-change-story-ever-read.html\" target=\"_blank\">we&#8217;ve finally gotten serious about slowing it<\/a>. One major reason, in the author&#8217;s opinion, is the threat of a Republican candidate winning in 2016, as that party steadfastly denies the science on climate change in embarrassing fashion.\n<\/li>\n<li>How did lobster become so commoditized that it&#8217;s now on the McDonald&#8217;s menu? The <i>New Yorker<\/i> provides <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/business\/currency\/an-unnatural-history-of-the-mclobster?intcid=mod-latest\" target=\"_blank\">an &#8220;unnatural&#8221; history of the McLobster<\/a>, looking at advances in lobster fishery that resemble other types of animal husbandry.\n<\/li>\n<li>If you want to know why baseball is becoming whiter, there&#8217;s a simple explanation: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2015\/09\/07\/437000903\/playing-youth-sports-takes-a-lot-more-green-than-it-used-to\" target=\"_blank\">youth sports are too damn expensive<\/a>.\n<\/li>\n<li>Celebrity chef Kerry Simon <a href=\"http:\/\/m.reviewjournal.com\/life\/food-and-dining\/chef-kerry-simon-dies-age-60\" target=\"_blank\">died this week at age 60 of multiple system atrophy<\/a>. I first saw Simon on TV maybe fifteen years ago, on a Food Network show where he went to some off-Strip places in Vegas where he said the real chefs would go to eat.
