This was my starter cookbook. It&#8217;s pretty comprehensive both in terms of included recipes and ingredient descriptions. Another comprehensive-primer book, one I&#8217;ve bought for many friends who told me they wanted to learn to cook. I actually don&#8217;t own this one; I tend to only buy genre cookbooks now, like <i><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1580085156?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=meadowpartyco-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1580085156\">The Cuisines of Spain<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=meadowpartyco-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1580085156\" alt=\"\" style=\"border: medium none  ! important; margin: 0px ! important;\" border=\"0\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"><\/i>.<\/li>\n<li><em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/158479559X?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=meadowpartyco-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=158479559X\">I&#8217;m Just Here for the Food: Version 2.0<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=meadowpartyco-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=158479559X\" alt=\"\" style=\"border: medium none  ! important; margin: 0px ! important;\" border=\"0\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"><\/em>. I learned to cook primarily via <i>Joy<\/i> and from Alton Brown, mostly through his TV show, <i>Good Eats<\/i>.
