I also held my regular <a href=http:\/\/klaw.me\/1r2xmg3>Klawchat<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been stepping up the boardgame reviews again, reviewing <a href=http:\/\/klaw.me\/1wiAIMj>Valley of the Kings<\/a> for <em>Paste<\/em> magazine, and <a href=http:\/\/klaw.me\/1mcojci>Seasons<\/a> and <a href=http:\/\/klaw.me\/1Do3bFh>Spyrium<\/a> here.<\/p>\n<p>EDIT: Codito\/Sage Board Games have a new <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/app-bundle\/id917715431?mt=8&#038;uo=4&#038;at=11l9Rw\" target=\"itunes_store\">iOS boardgame app bundle<\/a>, which takes $1 off each of the games you haven&#8217;t bought. Tigris &#038; Euphrates and Le Havre are both excellent, if you don&#8217;t already own them.<\/p>\n<p>And now, to the links &#8211; seven this time, since I didn&#8217;t post last Saturday and had a few extras saved up:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The most important link I&#8217;ve ever posted, I think: <a href=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=V1yW5IsnSjo>Leslie Morgan Steiner on why domestic violence victims don&#8217;t leave<\/a>. She&#8217;s a survivor herself, and what she says will help educate people who ask this question.<\/li>\n<li>From the BBC World Service, <a href=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-jZB0KkAvrg>an interview with one of the biologists who sequenced the coffee genome<\/a>. That was part of a program, which you can download directly <a href=http:\/\/downloads.bbc.co.uk\/podcasts\/worldservice\/business\/business_20140913-0002a.mp3>here<\/a>, that also included a segment on aquaponics efforts in London and NFL cheerleaders fighting for better wages.<\/li>\n<li>From <em>Salon<\/em>, &#8220;<a href=http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2014\/09\/07\/finally_wall_street_gets_put_on_trial_we_can_still_hold_the_0_1_percent_responsible_for_tanking_the_economy\/?utm_source=digg&#038;utm_medium=email>Finally, Wall Street Gets Put on Trial<\/a>.&#8221; But is that really what the case here means? Will it have any lasting effect &#8211; hell, is there even any reason to think this ruling will extend beyond this one court?<\/li>\n<li>From the <em>NY Times<\/em>, <a href=http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/09\/12\/opinion\/what-were-afraid-to-say-about-ebola.html?_r=0>What we&#8217;re afraid to say about Ebola<\/a>. I don&#8217;t know &#8211; I think people are rather duly freaked out by the whole thing, including the very scenario the author outlines.<\/li>\n<li>From <em>Vice<\/em>, <a href=http:\/\/munchies.vice.com\/articles\/we-should-all-be-eating-animal-fat\/>We Should All Be Eating Animal Fat<\/a>. This won&#8217;t convince any vegans, but he makes the case that carnivores shouldn&#8217;t be shy when it comes to the fat of the animals we eat. And yes, I do render and use fat from much of the meat I cook &#8211; both pork and poultry fats.<\/li>\n<li>From NPR, <a href=http:\/\/www.npr.org\/blogs\/thesalt\/2014\/09\/18\/349277608\/from-coffee-to-chicory-to-beer-bitter-flavor-can-be-addictive>on the pleasure of bitter flavors<\/a>, with a recipe for turnip ice cream.<\/li>\n<li>I tweeted this last night, but it&#8217;s worth repeating &#8211; a high school in Bucks County, PA, suspended the school paper&#8217;s student editor and faculty advisor <a href=http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/sports\/2014\/09\/19\/3569591\/playwickian-suspensions-redskins\/>because they refused to print the school&#8217;s team nickname<\/a>, the same racist term the NFL team in Washington clings to in the face of mounting scorn and criticism.
