That off-kilter piano sample and the spacey production of the vocals both reminded me of Beta Band, but this song is much bouncier than any Beta Band track I&#8217;ve heard.<\/p>\n<p>School of Seven Bells &#8211; &#8220;The Night.&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0078XLWWW\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=meadowpartyco-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=B0078XLWWW\">amazon<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=meadowpartyco-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B0078XLWWW\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/>\/<a href=http:\/\/click.linksynergy.com\/fs-bin\/click?id=7kqpzlknMr4&#038;subid=&#038;offerid=146261.1&#038;type=10&#038;tmpid=3909&#038;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fthe-night%2Fid499200203%3Fi%3D499200204>iTunes<\/a>) Sleigh Bells gets all the love right now &#8211; I thought the industrial thing was kind of played out twenty years ago &#8211; but I prefer these Bells, or at least this song, an ethereal electronic track that sounded like an updated Flock of Seagulls with a female vocalist lamenting a broken heart. <\/p>\n<p>Lonely Forest &#8211; &#8220;Turn Off This Song and Go Outside.&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B004R92H3I\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=meadowpartyco-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=B004R92H3I\">amazon<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=meadowpartyco-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B004R92H3I\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/click.linksynergy.com\/fs-bin\/click?id=7kqpzlknMr4&#038;subid=&#038;offerid=146261.1&#038;type=10&#038;tmpid=5573&#038;RD_PARM1=http%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fthe-lonely-forest-ep%2Fid389162154\">iTunes<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"icon\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/ad.linksynergy.com\/fs-bin\/show?id=7kqpzlknMr4&#038;bids=146261.1&#038;type=10\">) Immediate reaction was negative &#8211; it&#8217;s just too emo for me &#8211; but then I found myself singing it the next day and caved in and bought it. Think of a slowed-down Jimmy Eat World that still just wants you to know they&#8217;re singing their hearts out. The chorus is still gimmicky, though.
