Make \u2018em pay.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The kleptocracy in Washington knows no bounds: Markwayne Mullin, now head of Homeland Security, has fought any regulation or warnings about the dangers of kratom, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/06\/15\/us\/politics\/kratom-trump-administration.html?unlocked_article_code=1.qVA.VP2_.nEtUcug_LDZf&amp;smid=url-share\">because he\u2019s invested $1 million in a kratom company<\/a>. Kratom has two psychoactive compounds and can cause liver toxicity, but because it\u2019s a \u201csupplement\u201d it\u2019s basically unregulated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Also in <em>The Atlantic<\/em>, Adam Serwer points out that the war on the abortion pill shows that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/2026\/06\/mifepristone-abortion-pill-access-impossible\/687519\/?gift=Je3D9AQS-C17lUTOnl2W8CqidFwweqpBKYPXC8zzUQI&amp;utm_source=copy-link&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=share\">the whole \u201cleave abortion up to the states\u201d story was just another lie<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trump and his cronies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/06\/15\/us\/politics\/trump-scharf-habeas-corpus-insurrection-act.html\">debated ending the Constitutional right of habeus corpus<\/a> for people arrested as potentially undocumented immigrants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One common claim from creationists and other evolution deniers is that humans are some sort of end point in the process of evolution. This is disproven by copious evidence that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harvardmagazine.com\/research\/harvard-human-evolution-genes-selective-pressure\">humans are still evolving<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Atlantic Meridian Overturning Circulation (Amoc), a system of ocean currents that moves heat around the Atlantic ocean, may be heading towards collapse due to anthropogenic climate change. The UK and EU are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2026\/jun\/14\/amoc-collapse-europe-climate\">threatening to cut funding that helps monitor it<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A cop responding to a shoplifting incident <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mississippifreepress.org\/mississippi-police-officer-shoots-and-kills-1-year-old-child-in-response-to-senatobia-shoplifting-call\/\">shot into a car and killed a one-year-old boy<\/a>, even though the officer knew the child was in the vehicle. I am struggling to understand why any shoplifting claim would provoke the use of a firearm. The officer has since been placed on administrative leave, but we all know that\u2019s a temporary and often worthless response.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The high school group that had sued to block Idaho\u2019s anti-trans bathroom bill dropped its case <a href=\"https:\/\/idahocapitalsun.com\/2026\/05\/21\/high-school-group-challenging-idahos-trans-bathroom-ban-drops-lawsuit-after-students-death\/\">after one of the students involved took their own life<\/a>. A few days later, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/06\/16\/us\/transgender-idaho-bathroom-law.html\">a federal judge blocked the law<\/a>. These bills\/laws do absolutely nothing except put targets on trans people. There is zero evidence that they\u2019re addressing an actual problem in child safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), a Trump toady and election denier, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/max-miller-ex-wife\/\">pointed a gun at his ex-wife and threw scalding water at her<\/a>, according to police audio. His ex-wife, Emily Moreno, is the daughter of Senator Bernie Moreno, and she has accused Miller of physical abuse, while he\u2019s responded by calling her crazy. He\u2019s opposed this year by union ironworker <a href=\"https:\/\/poindexterforcongress.com\/\">Brian Poindexter<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.readfrontier.org\/stories\/oklahoma-regulator-recommends-a-disputed-mine-expansion-over-the-arbuckle-simpson-aquifer\/\">Oklahoma regulators approved a new mine that will threaten a fragile aquifer<\/a>, because in Oklahoma, profits are more important than clean water!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Frontier obtained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readfrontier.org\/stories\/all-the-details-on-data-center-secrecy-deals-oklahoma-communities-have-signed\/\">contracts various Oklahoma cities and towns signed with data centers<\/a>, often with NDAs that prevent officials there from even acknowledging the deals\u2019 existence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Texas\u2019 state Board of Education is going to vote on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasmonthly.com\/news-politics\/black-robe-regiment-christian-nationalism-schools\/\">whether to teach second graders the story<\/a> of the \u201cBlack Robe Regiment\u201d Christians who did not actually help lead the American Revolution. It\u2019s just not true.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The University of Texas used specious logic to block a fund-raising festival for the public-radio station KUT, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2026\/06\/15\/debbie-hiott-kut-fired-ut-austin-festival\/\">then fired the station manager when she put the lie to their claims<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The son of Sen. Kristin Gillenbrand (D-NY) just graduated from college and <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/06\/18\/theodore-gillibrand-senator-kirstin-gillibrand-apec-american-perpetuals-exchange-corporation-lux-capital\/\">then landed $30 million in investment in his crypto-derivatives startup<\/a>.
