I’ll be appearing via phone on the ESPN broadcast of the Yankees-Jays game on Thursday, starting in the fifth inning. The topic will be the youth movements in New York and Boston, as well as other top rookies.

Love the blog – and the pork chop recipe is a new house favorite.. I’ll be in San Diego for a conference next week and I scored a ticket to Opening Day at Petco. The big question is, where to eat in the Gaslamp district? Any suggestions?

Hey Keith – Did you watch the Yankees/Virginia Tech game the other day? Are you going to comment on that? I only ask because that’s probably the only college game I will watch all year (it’s a difficult sport to catch in Connecticut) and was wondering if there was anyone on that team who might make the Majors?

I was in San Diego for a conference in November, and the Gaslamp is a mixed bag, but mostly overpriced and low on quality. The one place Keith reviewed that’s close to there is Café 222. Phenomenal waffles. The other places I tried in the area were nothing to write home (or to you) about. I tried Cafe Madrid, Royal Thai, some upscale mexican type place which I can’t recall, and then a small fish taco place directly across from the convention center. That place is actually alright, but ask them to hold the cheese on the fish tacos, as they are guilty of the same sin Keith observed at another San Diego locale. If I were you I would hop onto the light rail by the convention center and go to old town or little italy for dinner. It takes only 10-20 minutes to get there, and though I only ate at one restaurant at each place, they were infinitely better than the meals in the Gaslamp district, which seem to be only different twists on slightly upscale casual dining restaurants.

Thanks for the info and referencing the earlier blog entry.. I’ll report back on what I find.. The only tip I had was the Rockin’ Baja Lobster but the fact that they serve everything in buckets had me more than a little scared.

Thanks Bob. I just threw it together last week but I’ve picked up close to a million members so far.. I wasn’t sure about using it as my site (considering that its my employer and due to the lurid nature of this blog) but I couldn’t really see anything wrong with it. I also think its safe to say that if you read this blog, you’re already aware that you’ve got a strange amalgamation of interests. Foodie, baseball fan, film buff, environmentalist. Why not? I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner. I digitally recorded both the ESPN and YES broadcast, but once that I saw YES wasn’t blacked out, I deleted the ESPN one. I just can’t stand listening to ESPN and Fox; I’d much rather listen to a local broadcast.
