Stick to baseball, 3/24/18.

My column identifying some potential breakout players for 2018 is up for Insiders. I also held a Klawchat on Thursday.

Over at Paste, I reviewed Reiner Knizia’s Sakura, a light, quick-playing game where players all chase the lead ’emperor’ token, but where you can move your opponents as well and try to push them into the emperor, costing them points and sending them to the back of the queue.

Smart Baseball is out in paperback! U.S. Residents can enter a sweepstakes from HarperCollins to win a copy of the book and a phone call with me.

And now, the links…

  1. Keith, minor typo- Patrick Colbeck not Corbeck.

  2. I live in PA. As far as I know, my local reps have not signed on to these impeachment plans. But I’m seriously thinking about doing to the ringleaders what time just suggested.

  3. You’re probably already up on this, but Scott Walker is already swinging into action to hold those special elections. Ha ha, just kidding. He’s trying to get a new law passed in a special session to prevent having to hold them:

  4. Abortion is not safe for the child inside the mother.

    • Since that’s not a child but a fetus, this isn’t a problem.

    • I’ve got a feeling women coming or going from a Planned Parenthood clinic aren’t safe from Jim…

  5. Keith, I’d take the free book if I won the contest, but can I accept “cash value” instead of the phone call? A conversation with a complete stranger might get awkward.

  6. Brian in Ahwatukee
  7. Two little tidbits on the Alabama sheriff … First, he is from Etowah County, the same county as disgraced former Chief Justice, and failed Senatorial & Gubernatorial candidate, Roy Moore. Second, the allegedly retaliatory conduct was not related to the beach house (the second such house the Sheriff and his wife own) but the use of funds earmarked for inmates for the mowing of the lawn at a personal residence. Not just a one-time matter of corruption (whether legal or not, it stinks to high heavens) but a pattern and practice of it.
