Saturday five, 10/18/14.

My second Arizona Fall League scouting post went up earlier this week, and I held my regular Klawchat on Thursday.

My review of this year’s Spiel des Jahres winner, the boardgame Camel Up, is up at Paste magazine. I’ll have three more reviews up for them over the next month or so, and my annual boardgame rankings post will go up here on the dish in mid-November.

  1. I’ve seen in the past you’ve spoke out against Josh Lueke and Evan Reed, so you may be interested in the the Ched Evans story. Ched Evans is a professional soccer player in England and since 2012, a convicted rapist. He was released from prison yesterday. One of his old clubs, Sheffield United (a League 1/third division side) has been rumored to be looking to bringing him back following his release. Consequently, there has been a backlash against bringing a convicted rapist to the club by fans and employees of the club. Here is one article, from The Guardian, about bringing him back.

  2. Wait… people routinely ask women *why* they don’t breastfeed? It doesn’t seem unreasonable to ask a mother (or father, for that matter) how they are approaching feeding but it seems pretty needless to ask them why they are taking the path they are. If anything, I am often reticent to even ask what they plan to do because I know all of the rhetoric and hyperbole surrounding the issue puts many women reflexively on the defensive, which is ridiculous and absurd and unfair.
